Dr. Ali Al-Dabbagh announced that he will meet Mr. Joseph Blatter, President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) on Tuesday, 6th of October at FIFA headquarters in Zurich to demand the necessity of carrying out Iraqi Football Federation elections as other Iraqi sports federations. Since, Iraq security conditions has improved, an opportunity for FIFA is emerging to repeal its earlier decision through an extension to the current federation for another year.
Al-Dabbagh assured that the Iraqi Government seeks sports federations’ elections to be carried out according to what the permanent constitution and the Iraqi national laws impose. Such elections should be in compliance with the international standards of the international sports federations. Any legal objection which pounces from the International Federations will be fully taken into consideration neutrally. It is sought so; due to the intention of elevating the Iraqi sports federations to international standards and their requirements. This will provide the opportunity for Iraqi athletes to take their complete chance in participating in international sports.
