Al-Dabbagh: The Prime Minister will pay a Work and an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Sweden

Al-Dabbagh: The Prime Minister will pay a Work and an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Sweden

The Government of Iraq Spokesman Dr. Ali Al-Dabbagh announced that The Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki will pay a work visit to The Kingdom of Sweden to chair the proceedings of the first annual review conference of the International Compact with Iraq; which is to be held on Thursday the 29th of May 2008. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Barham Salah and a high level ministerial delegation in addition to senior Iraqi officials. This will be followed by an official visit to The Kingdom of Sweden in response to an invitation by Mr. Fredrik Reinfeldt, the Swedish Prime Minister. During the visit The Iraqi Prime Minister will meet His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden.

Al-Dabbagh added that The Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation will be discussing the progress in fulfilling the mutual commitments between Iraq and the International Community. The conference will be attended by around 100 delegations who will be discussing recent achievements in addition to proposals in the fields of economy, infra-structure, and building democratic institutes. The deliberations will involve discussing the huge progress achieved in National Reconciliation, establishing security, and the rule of Law.

Al-Dabbagh affirmed that the partnership Iraq has called for with the International community in cooperation with the United Nations at the first International Compact Conference in Sharm Al-Sheikh last year is aimed at building Iraqi capacities to make Iraqis capable of taking over responsibilities in security and the provision of services. Iraq seeks to achieve this through benefiting from the expertise and the capabilities of the international community leading to a stage where Iraq is an effective member of its regional and international surrounding.
