Al-Dabbagh: The killer of Bishop Polus Faraj Rahho receives the death sentence
The government of Iraq Spokesman, Dr. Ali Al-Dabbagh announced today that the Iraqi Central Criminal Court has sentenced convict Ahmed Ali Ahmed (known as “Abu Omar”) to death because of his involvement in the murder of Bishop Polus Faraj Rahho in Mosul last February.
Al-Dabbagh added that the convict Ahmed Ali Ahmed who is one of the leaders of Alqaeda terrorist organization had been wanted by the Iraqi courts due to his involvement in many terror crimes against the people of Iraq. He was sentenced according to article 4.1 of the Iraqi antiterrorism law.
Bishop Polus Faraj Rahhu was one of the most prominent religious personalities in Iraq, and an advocate of peace and tolerance among all Iraqis. He was found dead in the city of Mosul last February, a few days after being kidnapped, in a crime that received widespread condemnation and sorrow in Iraq and also internationally.
