Dr. Ali Aldabbagh Iraqi government's envoy to the Olympic Games in Beijing met with the International Olympic Committee and the Asian Olympic Committee in order to have an agreement on the proposed elections for the sports federations and The Iraqi National Olympic Committee. It was agreed on the outlines for the rearrangement for the election of all Iraqi sports federations according to the regulations and the reins that administrate the work of these unions with coordination of The Secretariat of The Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, that matches with the laws and regulations with the Iraqi national regulations and charters of international sports federations where these elections will constitute the basis for the board that will elect The National Olympic Committee. .
The agreement also included that the elections to be hold by the Office of Independent Election Commission under the supervision of the International Olympic Committee and the Iraqi Judiciary Authority. The Iraqi government is keen to reach at to an elected Iraqi sports federations and an Iraqi National Olympic Committee in a transparent, democratic and fair that represents Iraqi athletes properly and promote sports activity to an advanced level be suitable of Iraq and its people and Iraqi athletes’ abilities.
Also it was greed about a broad participation of Iraqi athletes at the beach sports games which to be held next month in Bali in October so as to give greater opportunity for Iraqi athletes.
