Dabbagh: Pentagon Report Contains Positive Points
Date: 01 / 10 / 08
Dr. Ali-Dabbagh announced that the quarterly report of the U.S. Department of Defense on the security situation in Iraq contains positive points about the significant improvement achieved during the current year; despite the drop in the number of American forces, reflecting greater readiness and capacity within the Iraqi security forces. This contributes to steady and accelerated take over of leadership of the security effort in Iraq to confront terrorist groups and outlaws. Such groups still constitute the greatest threat to security situation despite the dismantling of most of these groups and defeating them through the efforts of the Awakening members; the heroes who have conspicuously contributed in supporting the security efforts in areas that were breeding grounds for these terrorist groups. The Iraqi Government appreciates and values these efforts and expresses its commitment to the integration of these elements into public life allowing them to participate in the building of Iraq.
Al-Dabbagh stressed that the unlimited support from citizens to the Iraqi National Forces and the legitimate elected government prop up the continuous efforts to curb and eliminate sources of security threats. This support is to find solutions to some of the issues; which are waiting for political solutions; through the cohesive political effort of with political blocs.
